THE OPPORTUNITY

Our target consumers are everyday Americans who are financially vulnerable, just getting by, or managing their finances but not getting where they want to be. Debt and financial stress is taking a toll on their wellbeing; they can’t save, feel stressed, and many are unable to pursue life goals as a result of their debt. With little to no formal education about how to manage their finances, they have accumulated debt due to poor habits and / or life circumstances beyond their control.

Freedom is greatly expanding the value propositions we offer these struggling-to-striving consumers to empower them to achieve better outcomes. In the second half of 2022 we are launching a new mobile app (0->1) that enables consumers to improve their finances. Our mobile app motivates users to manage their cash flow & adopt good habits, provides insights, identifies opportunities to get better, and gives personalized recommendations on products. Plus, we make finances fun! In our evaluative research with an interactive prototype, consumers told us that it would be their "go to" app for personal finance.

Our design and engineering team is looking forward to your leadership, partnership, and passion to launch and grow this new mobile app.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a talented PM IC to drive the 0->1 product development and launch for our new mobile app and evolve and expand its feature set to provide deeper value to consumers and integrate with our business units.

This role is central to the success of our new product, and you will have an opportunity to get involved in the critical early lifecycle of the product. You will lead the iteration of feature discovery and definition for experiences such as onboarding, the core engagement loop, insights, recommendations, and re-engagement to name a few. You will set the goals, identify opportunities and key inputs, and deliver features that help our customers get to a better financial position. We will look to you to bring this exciting new product offering to life and hold yourself and your cross-functional teams accountable to deliver results on behalf of our customers.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of PM experience building consumer mobile apps or web apps and leading a cross-functional team in an agile environment to effectively deliver value to consumers and to the business
  • Experience in consumer web app and/or mobile app product management (mobile experience preferred), ideally bringing a new product to market (0->1)
  • Consumer finance experience is a plus
  • Ability to lead capably from product discovery through product delivery, such that we have compelling value propositions, meaningfully pressure tested our assumptions and hypotheses and prioritize features appropriately
  • Ability to elicit stakeholder buy-in and create product alignment with the values of Freedom
  • The ability to provide decisive leadership and recommendations across a variety of concerns and disciplines, so that you can rally executives to make efficient, informed decisions
  • Ability to earn trust and commitment at all levels of the organization and create win-win situations that benefit the company and your initiative
  • Expertise in evaluative research to test hypotheses via prototypes, in service of getting to product/market fit (e.g. user testing). Experience in generative research is highly desirable
  • Experience collaborating with Product Design partners to drive a clean and simple information architecture, brand-aligned visual design and content strategy, and consistent interaction design patterns
  • Experience collaborating with Engineering and vendors to understand what’s feasible, what opportunities exist, and how to tie it all together seamlessly from the perspective of customers
  • Independent, strong executor with a natural ability to make things happen through both direct action, as well as indirect influence
  • Analytical: clear examples of using consumer understanding and analytics to deliver product enhancements that resulted in significant consumer engagement and business growth.
  • Expertise in Agile product development (4+ years)
